Tesuque

Only 10 minutes from Santa Fe, Tesuque feels like a world away in both its relaxed pace and artsy, rustic atmosphere.

Welcome to Tesuque

Located only 10 minutes away from Santa Fe, Tesuque feels like a world away from the City Different in both its pace and atmosphere. Set in a river valley lined with cottonwoods, and with Tesuque Indian Pueblo nearby, this lush, countryside community offers many homes of historic value, along with old world Southwest charm.

After being 'discovered' in the 1920s, primarily by artists who treasured its inspiring landscapes and rural serenity, many of the lots today are just as expansive as they were 100 years ago – in large part due to their history as farms and multi-generational homesteads. In fact, most of the properties share former farm plots with newly built homes.

The famed Santa Fe Opera House is just west of this area (literally, across the road), and the Santa Fe Ski Basin’s Nordic and Alpine trails are a short drive away. Part of Tesuque also borders the Santa Fe National Forest, which offers miles of hiking and biking trails. The Bishop’s Lodge Resort, in the nearby valley, offers an excellent equestrian facility, and horse riding trails run through the area. The two championship Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses, close by at Las Campanas, offer non-owner memberships and are also easily accessible. Santa Fe itself – its vibrant downtown and the Plaza – is a mere 10-minute drive south, where cultural attractions, shops, restaurants, and museums abound. The town of Tesuque itself is home to artist’s studios, galleries, and the much-loved Tesuque Village Market.

Architectural styles here run the aesthetic gamut. There are gracious and historic adobe estates, sprawling Territorial-style homes, and newer homes that have a decidedly old-world feel. Many properties have guest cottages or artist studios. Lots tend to be large, which ensures privacy and encourages lush garden landscaping. Some of these Santa Fe properties come with splendid views of the Santa de Cristo and Jemez mountains. Walking trails meander and wind throughout the town.

The Tesuque area offers a unique blend of historical charm, rural peacefulness, generously sized lots, and authenticity. While many are drawn here by the pastoral lands, lush river valley, and tranquil setting, it’s the area’s luxury homes and large lots that finalize the deal. This small, serene village offers attractions of its own, and Santa Fe’s city amenities await nearby.
