Autumn in Santa Fe

Autumn in the Land of Enchantment kicks off fiesta time, America’s oldest community event to commemorate the reoccupation of Santa Fe, led by Don Diego de Vargas in 1692. The history grounds the people here (along with the food!), and in the air is the aroma of freshly harvested and roasted chile that cannot be denied.

Autumn in Santa Fe – What it’s Like

A walk down any of Santa Fe’s charming streets might lead you to a bowl of the delightful green with warm sopapilla, as the icing on the cake. By now, the bountiful harvest has arrived at the Farmer’s Market and our local cuisine is a foodies’ dream come true.

Each month, until fall gives way to winter, is a time to celebrate our spectacular outdoor environment perfect for hiking, biking, and horseback riding on any given day of the season. Local Santa Feans will confess this is their favorite time of year. The summer crowds are winding down, restaurants rarely have a wait, and the Santa Fe weather is crisp and cool with plenty of sunshine – perfection!

Our dramatic New Mexico sunsets and the earthy tones of the adobe-style give us a natural connection to Mother Earth (and did I mention the food?).

Artist studio tours, in and around Santa Fe begin, which makes the holiday shopping experience that much more unique and fun. Our little town is bursting with harvest colors, enticing smells, and the sounds of nature, as we anticipate the first snowfall of the season soon to arrive. We do hope you find our Native land as provocative and inspiring as we do, whether it be the place you call home, or the special place that calls you to visit over and over again.
