There have been 14 Santa Fe Opera world premieres launched at the Santa Fe Opera since 1957, when the Opera first debuted “The Tower.” The most recent original production, “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs,” will be the 15th world Opera premiere when it holds its debut at the Santa Fe Opera in July 2017.
According to the Santa Fe Opera, “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs seeks to capture the buzzing creative realm of Silicon Valley with a kinetic electro-acoustic score, lush vocal writing, a compelling non-linear narrative, and a production as innovative as the man himself.”
In 2015, another Santa Fe Opera World Premiere, “Cold Mountain,” opened to critical acclaim. The production has since been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
The Santa Fe Opera has been a leader in launching world premieres, in addition to conducting 40 American premieres.
